A song from "Captain Vrungel"

**
This is from a children's cartoon series "Adventures of Captain Vrungel"--whose name would translate to English as something like "Captain Liarsley"--yes, the captain was fond of tall tales...;) This is his first mate Lom re-taking the examination (the first mate has actually failed it in the navigational school, but as the captain needed a first mate in a hurry for the yacht race, he took the first mate on, on probation).
**
Lyrics translation:

Vrungel:

What  S-O-S means, or as sailors say it, SOS,
Every sailor must always know!

Lom:

I can easily answer that, Captain,
I've learned the subject of S-O-S well enough to get a solid "A"!

Vrungel:
(chuckling)

And what about yourself, First Mate? Have you ever sunk at sea?
Ever, even once?

Lom:

For the last 10 years, I have been swimming and sinking
In the course of my studies, in all the subjects I've been studying!

Vrungel:

And did your friends ever rescue you?

Lom:

Oh yes, there was a severe tempest...my friend threw me a crib sheet
And saved me that way.

Vrungel:

(shocked, spitting out what he was tasting and dropping the ladle)

What is this I hear?! You, first mate, get a dressing-down! I cannot pass you in this exam!

Lom:

(falling into the cooking pot)

I am perishing! SOS!

Vrungel:

Out on the sea, a sailor must know the subject well enough for a solid "A",
Here, a crib sheet won't help you rescue your drowning friend!

A sailor must be vigilant while out on the sea,
The ocean is not forgiving,
Be always ready to rescue your friend
From any trouble he might be in!

And remember, First Mate:
Sailing is serious business!

Lom:

Your lesson, my captain,
I will never forget!

Vrungel:

Vrungel is not accustomed to speaking empty words!

Lom:

Yes, Sir, your faithful pupil will be worthy of you!

Vrungel:

Quite so.
