‘That was deliberate. It wasn’t in the script but I just wanted to show that Holmes had affections for Watson and for a fleeting second they almost get the better of his practical mind. But they don’t. [Large Brett grin.] It is a moment.’

Remembering Edward Hardwicke
I have just come across this and thought I would share it here for those who have not yet seen it. It is an audio interview with Messrs David Stuart Davies, Leslie Klinger, and Steven Doyle. They speak of their meetings and interviews with Mr Edward Hardwicke (and briefly about their meetings and interviews with Mr Jeremy Brett as well). It is a poignant tribute. Edward Hardwicke was one of our campaign’s most fervent supporters and is probably best known for his portrayal of Doctor Watson alongside Jeremy Brett in Granada Television’s “Sherlock Holmes” series (1984-1994).
As a mark of respect for Mr. Hardwicke, BAFTA 4 JB will not update any of the website, nor any of its Social Network pages for one week. We shall prepare a Tribute Post which shall appear on the website after Mr. Hardwicke’s funeral.
“Temporary Closure” of the campaign will be effective from midnight tonight (17th May 2011).
The Petition(s) is/are still available to be signed, and vigilance against spam shall remain in place during this time.

Greetings, everyone! I thought I would share this recording with those who have not heard it before. This excerpt comes from a CD called "I Love, Alas" (Elizabethan Life in Music, Song, and Poetry/Elizabethan in Love) , which is out of print (although used copies still get sold on Amazon UK--I had bought my copy there). The poems (by Sir Philip Sidney and other Elizabethan poets) are read by Jeremy Brett and are accompanied by bass and lute music and the Purcell Consort of Voices choir. "How does Cushing react to being described (the NFT programme again) as a "living legend"? "To be living at all is quite remarkable, at 73. It's a lovely thing to be called. Mind you, things about people becoming legends in their own lifetimes have been rather overdone, haven't they?
