Еще о глобальном потеплении.../More about global warming

The Black Sea has frozen near Odessa's shores. The piers are covered with ice, and the ice drifts extend for hundreds of meters. In recent years, the winters in Odessa have been warm, and that has become normal. This winter, on the other hand, is characterized by sharp and extensive cold spells, which had led to the water freezing near the shoreline. This phenomenon occurs very rarely: the last time the sea at Odessa's shoreline completely froze was in 1977.

Замерзшее Черное море / Frozen Black Sea
The Black Sea has frozen near Odessa's shores. A song from "Captain Vrungel"
**
This is from a children's cartoon series "Adventures of Captain Vrungel"--whose name would translate to English as something like "Captain Liarsley"--yes, the captain was fond of tall tales...;) This is his first mate Lom re-taking the examination (the first mate has actually failed it in the navigational school, but as the captain needed a first mate in a hurry for the yacht race, he took the first mate on, on probation).

"All I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by..."

**
Sea Fever
I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,
And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea's face, and a grey dawn breaking.
I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.
I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull's way and the whale's way, where the wind's like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over.
(John Masefield)
