Жил отважный капитан
ПЕСЕНКА О КАПИТАНЕ
Жил отважный капитан,
Он объездил много стран,
И не раз он бороздил океан.
Раз пятнадцать он тонул,
Погибал среди акул,
Но ни разу даже глазом не моргнул.
И в беде,
И в бою
Напевал он эту песенку свою: "Капитан, капитан, улыбнитесь, Ведь улыбка - это флаг корабля. Капитан, капитан, подтянитесь, Только смелым покоряются моря!"
Once, there was a brave captain
He's sailed to many countries
And has crossed the ocean many a time.
He nearly drowned at least 15 times,
Nearly  got eaten by the sharks,
But not once did he even bat an eye.
Always, whether in trouble,
Or in battle,
He sang this song of his:
"Captain, Captain, smile, because a smile is the flag of the ship. Captain, Captain, stand up tall, because the seas submit only to those who are brave!"

Но однажды капитан
Был в одной из дальних стран
И влюбился, как простой мальчуган.
Раз пятнадцать он краснел,
Заикался и бледнел,
Но ни разу улыбнуться не посмел.
Он мрачнел,
Он худел,
И никто ему по-дружески не спел: "Капитан, капитан, улыбнитесь, Ведь улыбка - это флаг корабля. Капитан, капитан, подтянитесь, Только смелым покоряются моря!"
But once, the captain
Was visiting one of the faraway countries
And fell in love, just like a youth.
At least fifteen times he blushed,
Stuttered and turned pale,
But he dared not smile even once.
He turned gloomy,
He grew thin,
And nobody sang to him, in a friendly way: "Captain, Captain, smile, because a smile is the flag of the ship. Captain, Captain, stand up tall, because the seas submit only to those who are brave!"
