Eclipse Give Back

We are often asked what to do with used eclipse glasses after an eclipse. Eclipse Glasses USA works with other organizations to donate used but undamaged eclipse glasses to other countries with upcoming eclipse events.

We only accept US-made paperboard glasses that have the manufacturer's address and contact info and that bear the ISO logo. All others will be discarded due to liability and quality issues.

All shipments will be opened and inspected before being repackaged for outbound shipment. Damaged or unusable glasses will be discarded.

Glasses can be shipped via USPS First-Class Mail (super inexpensive) in an envelope. For larger quantities, please consult your local post office for the most cost effective ways to ship.

We do not provide prepaid labels.

A message in a bottle that traveled 3,200 miles helped heal a Maryland boy’s grief

A year ago now, my friend lindahoyland adopted a ginger and white kitten, Filipos Apollo, via a cat sanctuary on the island of Syros, in Greece.

The Cat Sanctuary on Syros that arranged Filipos' adoption is seeking supporters who will donate the price of a cup of coffee a month. 4 Euros or $5. Less or more is also fine. They do wonderful work and everyone who signs up will get a signed poster featuring Joan's artwork. (Joan is the lady who runs the sanctuary, she is a professional artist).

And yes, I have signed up!

The sanctuary has become famous recently, when Joan advertised the "paid job with cats"--if you do a Google search, you'll see her job ad and her sanctuary has been featured by many major newspapers and TV stations.

However, sadly, fame does not equal donations and even the smallest amount helps.

Filipos is an amazing cat and it is heartbreaking to think he could so easily be living rough in Syros, or worse--dying unloved and alone at the roadside.

The owner, Joan Raschlitz Bowell, is a very nice lady and an accomplished artist; I'd posted about her cats and the greeting cards she sells, with her cat drawings.

She is asking for help with her husband's medical expenses; he urgently needs open-heart surgery.

Sharing this on behalf of my good friend, Linda Hoyland. She is adopting a cute little ginger and white kitten from Greece, from the cat rescue called "God's Little People". Filipos Apollo is scheduled to travel on November 15th, only a month away.
