Researchers find dieting can increase irritability U.S. researchers found that people who exert self-control and choose to stick to their diet were more prone to develop an aggressive frame of mind than those who eat what they like. Compared with people who ate less-healthy snacks, dieters were more likely to choose anger-themed movies and express irritation over a public-service ad that uses controlling language to advocate exercise, according to a study published in the Journal of Consumer Research.
