"The Irony of Fate", or, "I hope you enjoyed the steam room!"

This is a classic Soviet-era film that was shown on New Year's Eve since the late 1970s (ever since the film came out). The action takes place on New Year's Eve, it's a romantic comedy but a good one, and an interesting glimpse at the everyday life in the Soviet Union in the late 1970s. The director and the actors are also very good. This is a good-quality recording, with English subtitles. Enjoy! and let me know what you think ;)

Happy New Year!

It seems not long ago that we had bought a new calendar,
And here, it is nearly finished,
And already, on its pedestal
We have put up the new calendar,
Where it stands, like a new sovereign,
Whose temper is not yet known,
And its subjects cannot yet guess
Whether he will grant them peace and prosperity,
Or perhaps he will show himself to be otherwise.

Why worry?

med_cat: (cat in dress)
Why worry?

In this life there are only two things to worry about.
Either you will be rich or poor.

If you are rich, there is nothing to worry about.
But if you are poor, there are only two things to worry about.

Either you will be healthy or sick.
If you are healthy, there is nothing to worry about.

But if you are sick, there are two things to worry about.
Either you will live or you will die.

If you live, there is nothing to worry about.
If you die there are only two things to worry about.

You will either go to heaven or to hell.
If you go to heaven, there will be nothing to worry about.

If you go to hell, you'll be so darn busy shaking hands with all your friends,
you won't have time to worry!

SO WHY WORRY?
