British researchers have found that the Clostridium difficile bacterium, which causes dangerous intestinal infections in hospital patients, can travel in the air. No evidence suggests that the germ can be contracted through inhaling, but air travel could spread the bacterium to more surfaces, the researchers said. The New York Times (free registration) (5/24)
