Agreed--Sherlock Holmes has always been about characters, not stories. Which isn't to say that the stories are terrible...just pedestrian.

The characters on the other hand: BRILLIANT!

Quite so ;) Doyle himself freely admitted to leaving major inaccuracies in the stories...but the characters live and breathe.
