At least two programs mandated by the health care reform law are expected to increase the number of health care providers making house calls. Independence at Home, one program that will launch next year, offers incentive payments for primary-care teams that make house calls to improve efficiency and outcomes, and reduces hospitalizations and emergency department visits.
