This is from a Soviet musical film "Goodbye, Mary Poppins".
Translation of lyrics:
Once upon a time there lived a barber,
And one could not meet a kinder one,
The barber gave animals haircuts and shaves.
After such wonderful haircuts
Cats looked like mice,
And even silly monkeys looked like people.
Refrain:
It all happened last summer,
In the middle of January,
In the kingdom thirty kingdoms away,
Which never even had a king at all.
Once, when he met a lion,
The barber grew timid at first,
And, choosing his words with difficulty,
He said, quite courteously,
"If you want to be always handsome,
You should have your mane and moustache trimmed
At least a couple times a year."
Refrain:
It all happened last summer...
What happened afterwards
Everybody who is acquainted with lions' habits would guess.
The lion, trimmed to look like a poodle,
Ate the poor barber as if he were a pudding,
Ate him with all his instruments.
Refrain:
It all happened last summer...
