Уютной ночи вам! Бесшумной, тёплой ночи!
Пусть вам приснятся радужные сны!
А если кто из вас и снов не хочет –
Пусть крепко спит, как тополь до весны.

Before you sleep

A cozy night to you! A soundless, warm night!
May you see rainbow-hued dreams!
And if there are any of you who want no dreams at all--
Let them sleep soundly, as a poplar-tree sleeps till spring.

И пусть вас встретит радостное утро,
И солнце тёплой лаской опахнёт,
И ветер, вечный непоседа мудрый,
Вам в сердце страсть к движению вдохнёт.

And let a joyful morning greet you,
And sun waft his warm caress over you,
And wind, the eternal wise gadabout,
Breathe the passion for action into your heart.

И пусть под ноги бросятся дороги,
И пусть из рук не выпадут дела,
И никакие чёрные тревоги
Не омрачат, и будет даль светла!

And let the roads spread themselves under your feet,
And may your work not slip through your fingers,
And none of the dark concerns
Hover over you, and may the distance be bright!
