It is a story told about Chofetz Chaim (that wasn't his actual name, but a name by which everyone knew him; it means 'he who loves life' in Hebrew).

A man came from another city to consult him, as many did, and, noting the practically empty room in which he and others seeking advice were received--the room held nothing but a table, a chair, and a bookshelf--asked in surprise,

"Rebbe, where is your furniture?!"

"Where is yours?" was the response.

"But I am only passing through."

"So am I."
