Don't go into your own past

med_cat: (cat in dress)

Don't go into your own past,
Don't trouble your memory in vain
You can't bring back the good things from your youth
And that is both sad and wonderful.

Do not seek today to be purified
Of former sin or unintended foolishness
The transgressions of the past can't be redeemed
And that is both sad and wonderful.

Do not torture your heart with the impossible:
"...I should have...",
"..I would have..."
"...if only I had the chance again..."

What did not come true--is false,
What did not happen--is deceptive...
The truth is stern and real
Every moment--full of victories and dramas

The truth is, alas, not relative,
But has specifically-pink scars.
And let what happened yesterday--
Remain sacrosanct. Remain something that won't be forgotten
Don't lose a drop of the present...
Mould your truth. And may it come to be real.

You're welcome--feel free to repost if you like :)

This poem reminded me a bit of Wilcox's "Keep out of the past": http://med-cat.livejournal.com/560130.html
