- Я недавно сделал открытие:
Открыл я недавно словарь -
Оказывается, "совесть -
Это нравственная категория,
Позволяющая безошибочно
Отличать дурное от доброго".

        - Но как же быть, когда идет игра,
        Партнеры лгут, блефует кто как может,
        И для победы правды и добра
        Тебе солгать необходимо тоже -
        И как же быть тогда?

- Я понимаю... Я только говорю, что совесть -
Это нравственная категория...

        - Но как же быть, когда идет борьба
        За идеал и лучшие надежды?
        Ну, а в борьбе нельзя без топора,
        А где топор - там щепки неизбежны.
        И как же быть тогда?

- Да-да, конечно... Я только говорю, что совесть -
Это нравственная категория...

- Но если все охвачены одним
Безумием - не на день, а на годы?
Идет потоп - и он неудержим
И увлекает целые народы!
Так что же может слабый человек
В кошмаре, чей предел непредсказуем?
Что может он, когда безумен век?
И кто виновен в том, что век безумен?
Кого судить?
Кому судить?
За что судить?

        - Я не знаю... Я только знаю, что совесть -
        Это нравственная категория,
        Позволяющая безошибочно
        Отличать дурное от доброго!

A dialogue about conscience

--Recently, I made a discovery:
I opened the dictionary recently--
It turns out that "conscience is a moral category,
Which allows to unmistakably distinguish bad from good".

--But what should one do, when the game's in full swing,
The partners are lying, everyone is bluffing as best they can,
And for the truth and the good to be able to win,

For the ideals and for the best hopes?

--But if everyone is subjugated by the same
Insanity--and not for a day, but for years on end?
A deluge is coming--and it's unstoppable
And drags entire peoples in its wake!
What, then, can a weak man do
In a nightmare, the limit of which is unpredictable?
What can he do, when the era is insane?
And who is to blame for the era being insane?
Who should be judged?
Who should judge?
What should they judge for?

--I don't know...I only know that conscience is a moral category,
