Quite a contrast to the painting I'd posted yesterday...

There's no place like home ...

This painting stopped me in my tracks. It's unusual to come across a painting of such incredible detail. It could almost be a colorized photograph—such is the precision and the expert use of light and shade.

This is perhaps more realistic of the daily trials and tribulations of a working class family.

It's lovely, and as you say, amazingly realistic and detailed. Despite the hectic goings-on of the characters in the painting, the setting is appealingly cozy. Thanks for sharing!

I love their house, and the lady reminds me somewhat of the housekeeper in Pish Posh, Said Heironymus Bosch (https://youtu.be/RZAOIWWlLzg) - also of Lady Nerdanel, mother of the Feanorians (http://s977.photobucket.com/user/bzooka/media/tolkien/pics_tolkien_houseoffeanor.jpg.html).

And yes, there's definitely a resemblance to both of those! ;)
