A historical photo?

...or is it one of Granada's stills? Or a photomanip of a Granada still? What do you think? Or does anyone happen to know?

It certainly does have a Granada look to it - most especially the two gentlemen in the foreground, They definitely have a very Holmes and Watson look.

At any rate, love this image, and thank you for sharing with us!

It does, doesn't it? Seems a bit too much of a resemblance to be coincidental.

My pleasure re: image; very atmospheric, isn't it ;)

It is an 1899 photograph of London by the Belgian photographer Léonard Misonne

Thanks! I'm impressed with your sleuthing skills :)

If you don't mind me asking--how did you manage to find out?

Hee hee, I thought you might've ;)

And that's not cheating, that's using available reference sources!

Thanks again :)

It feels like cheating when I remember all the trawling through trade directories, faxing and phoning around I had to do in the export sourcing research job I had many years ago before the internet was invented.

I understand :)

Having said that, I did get to speak to a lot of people, so it was quite fun. One job I had was to track down the original manufacturers of all the plates and silverware on the ocean liner Queen Mary, or find existing companies who could reproduce them. I had a fun time talking to museum curators in Stoke-on-Trent about that one.

Indeed, it does sound interesting, although tedious at times as well, as you had mentioned.
