This journal is mostly public because most of it contains poetry, quotations, pictures, jokes, videos, and news (medical and otherwise). If you like what you see, you are welcome to drop by, anytime. I update frequently.

Self-acceptance summit (free registration)

From Elizabeth Gilbert's FB; thought some of you might be interested in checking it out; I think I'll have a look myself :)
~~

Dear Ones:

I am so honored to be part of this wonderful offering from Sounds True.

It's called The Self-Acceptance Summit.

I'm guessing you can figure out what it's about, based on the title!

It's an online gathering of so many great thinkers teachers (Martha Beck, Iyanla Vanzant, Marianne Williamson, etc) — all of them puzzling their way through questions about what it takes to suspend self-hatred and self-judgment, and how to find compassion for the one person whose soul is undeniably in your care: You.

Registration is open now, and my interview will be available today at noon.

ONWARD,
LG

ETA: I did check it out, the very first video presenter tried to sell me lifetime access for $147 (nope, not buying), so...caveat emptor? Some of the upcoming videos sound interesting, though, so will check 'em out as time permits...

I doubt this Summit will conclude that what it takes is virtue, integrity, achievement and service to others.

We shall see, I suppose; some of the presenters should be good, I've read and liked some of their essays before. I'll let you know :)

Sounds ghastly, actually; a veritable festival of new-age navel-gazing - though I admit, the only one of those authors I've read is Caroline Myss. (Her concept of 'Woundology' is a useful one, but she clutters it up with a metric ton of 'spiritual' glurge and pseudoscience.)

I'm not at all surprised that the "Free!" offer turned out to be a hook into a sales pitch - alas, that's usually how such things work. But, as you say, some of the videos may be worth watching. You probably could check their books out at the library - Buddha's Brain looks interesting.

Quite as you say, I'm going to check out some of the videos, and yes, shall have to look at some of the books (once I get through all the books I _need_ to read...;))
