LOL, never heard 'ramfeezled' before - 'forswunke' I had to look up, but found that I have heard the verb it came from, swinke, because it's in a lot of old ballads, usually rhyming with think (or 'thinke', as the case may be.)

I was thinking I might have heard some version of 'forswunke' in Yiddish, but I don't find anything close enough on this list (http://www.hobonickels.org/yiddish.htm). That doesn't mean it doesn't exist, of course; Yiddish is a vast and complex language, and my knowledge of it is slight and faulty.

Hey, do you know [livejournal.com profile] mount_oregano? Check her out; she's a science fiction writer and a translator (of Spanish) with a lot of cool stuff on her Lj. My own Spanish is dreck (though not as pitiful as my Russian!) but that doesn't signify.

In truth, y'know, if it was not for Lj I would despair: my local friends are wonderful folk and I love them a lot, but none of them speak/read anything but English, and they're not all so great even at that. The Olympic Peninsula abounds in natural beauty, but it's not exactly a hotbed of intellectualism.

Not heard of either "ramfeezled" or "forswunke"; makes sense re: "swinke", that's from Middle English.

I shall check out the LJ you mention.

And yes, I've certainly met a lot of interesting and diverse folks via LJ in general and SH fandom in particular, as well.
