"Holidays are about light at the darkest time of the year"

med_cat: (Winter London)
My wishlist from [community profile] holiday_wishes :
~~

Greetings, everyone! I truly enjoyed the previous two seasons of participating in holiday_wishes on LJ and am looking forward to this season, both on LJ and, for the first time, here on DW.

I'm a nurse and a nursing instructor, married, with two school-aged children.

My most important wish:

1.
Whatever you celebrate this season--Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, Yule, Pancha Ganapati, Bodhi Day, Winter or Summer Solstice, Human Light (a holiday I learned about recently thanks to [personal profile] doranwen ; here's the info about it), Festivus, any variations of those or any others, or just the month of December--enjoy! Spend time with friends and family, share the holiday joy and make some good memories.

Try not to stress too much; remember that picture-perfect holidays and ideal families (and perfect lives) exist only in non-realistic fiction :)

Now for the rest:

2. Take a look at the crocheted seed bead bracelets my friend leto_12 on LJ has made and is selling here

I can personally assure you that they are very pretty! (She has been kind enough to gift me some.)

Maybe you can buy one for a gift, or even for yourself? :)

3.
Please consider granting one of the wishes from [personal profile] minoanmiss ' wishlist

She is a good friend and an all-around nice person. I particularly want to mention that she likes Christmas/holiday cards and can always use postage stamps (esp. international ones), b/c she sends cards with her artwork to a lot of people!

4. [personal profile] gingicat is another friend whose wishlist I'd like to mention; if you are able to fill something from her wishlist, I would be most appreciative as well.

5. If you like cats and cat photos, please consider liking/following my friend [personal profile] lindahoyland 's FB page for her very handsome ginger cat, Harry. She takes great photos of Harry and his two "brothers".

6. Please take a look at [personal profile] lindahoyland 's wishlist too, and see if you can fulfill some of her wishes.

7. There's a very nice virtual pet show (submit a photo of your pet for a small entry fee and have the chance of winning a prize).

All proceeds go to charity, and all pets, as well as some categories of general photos, are welcome.

Enter your pets, if you have any, or make a small donation to support the running costs (every little bit helps, truly):

Missy and Chances Online Pet Shows

This show is run by a lady with serious health issues who despite that works hard to run this show to support needy cats.
Some classes are to raise funds for her special needs cat.
It is only £1 to enter and there are beautiful rosettes to be won and trophies for best in show.

If you think any of your friends and family would like to enter their pets, please let them know! I can tell you the prizes are very nice, and the charity the proceeds go to, Yorkshire Cat Rescue, does a great job in rescuing cats and getting them adopted.

8.
Please like/follow/contribute to a very deserving Greek cat rescue "God's Little People"; the owner is a very nice lady and posts great photos and stories about the cats; please spread the word as well, to anyone who might be interested.

You can also contribute by purchasing one of her cards from her Etsy shop; I have bought her cards before and they are beautifully drawn and great quality.

9.
Send some mail to sick children via Sunshine Snail Mail FB page, or to seniors via From The Heart FB page (I've been participating in both this year)

And, in conclusion:

10. Please--love one another, take care of one another, and take care of yourself as well.
If you care about someone, let them know.
If you haven't seen someone or heard from them, get in touch.
If you have a dream, or cherished plans--pursue them!
Life is...very fragile; and nothing is ever guaranteed--except today; that's why they call it "the present".

If you fulfill any wishes from this list, please do comment with a link to your own wishlist!
You can reach me via PM or, if you prefer email, the address is medcat120 at gmail dot com

All the very best to everyone, this holiday season and in the coming year! I look forward to granting some wishes :)
