Book recommendation

I have seen many recommended books, films, TV shows lists in the last few weeks. And I decided to make a recommendation as well. This book has been one of my favorites, for quite a while.

"Colas Breugnon" by Romain Rolland is an unique book, in that the main character is an optimistic realist, a rare combination. And yes, an epidemic is featured as well.

If you read French, the original is amazing. The English translation is pretty good although the Russian one is better, if you read Russian. It is not a long novel.
