I love that church clock story! It reminds me of an experience my dad had recently. He was in a car accident that damaged the 'lifting mechanism' that opened and closed the front hood of his car. One big repair shop quoted him $4000 to fix it, and another said the car was pretty old and "not worth fixing". Thankfully, a mechanic friend of my dad's saw the damage and fixed it himself in about two hours for $400.00. Persistence in getting second and third opinions is often the key!
