Now boringly known as the CTV Sci-Fi Channel, Space was (is?) a Canadian sci-fiction channel which first began airing in the 1990s. This low-key ad tells a surprising little story. The actress is Gillian Dobb, who 80s TV fans may remember from Magnum PI.

Remember: without legions of bored horny women, Star Trek (and perhaps American adult-targeted serial TV SF in general) would’ve wound up as an esoteric footnote in media history, like Space Patrol or Captain Video. Without Lucille Ball, then CEO of Desilu Productions, the show would never have been greenlit to begin with.
