Study finds one in 20 ED patients has MRSA
Researchers learned that 5% of emergency department patients at a Boston facility were diagnosed with methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus infection and more than half of these had MRSA on multiple sites. Patients with diabetes, HIV and those with skin or soft tissue complications were among the high-risk groups for MRSA infection, according to the study in the Annals of Emergency Medicine. Alcohol dependence is tied to late marriage, early separation
A study of more than 5,000 Australian twins, published in Alcoholism: Clinical & Experimental Research, linked alcohol dependence to an increased likelihood of marrying late and separating early. "If drinking continues or increases to levels of problem use, likelihood of marriage, or of having a lasting marriage, may decrease," the lead study author said.
